This year, Voksenåsen is strongly represented at the Bergen International Festival, with young musicians connected to our talent programmes appearing in seven concerts across the festival.
Their presence in Bergen reflects an important part of Voksenåsen’s work: creating opportunities for young musicians to develop through mentorship, artistic exchange and real professional experience. At the festival, the musicians meet fellow artists, audiences, and partner institutions in one of the Nordic region’s most important cultural arenas.
The programme includes chamber music performances, outreach concerts and collaborations in different parts of Bergen. In collaboration with Klassisk Link, three new works by composers from the talent programme receive their world premieres. Among the Voksenåsen talents appearing during the festival are Maya Broman Crawford-Phillips, Sebastian Egebakken Svenøy, Ariane Jebsen Alvestad, Olga Melby Larsson and the Monbijou Quartet.
Violinist Alma Kraggerud, a former participant in Voksenåsen’s talent programme, was one of the young musicians at the centre of this year’s festival opening – a strong example of how the programme’s alumni continue their paths onto major stages.
