Meet two of our fantastic strings teachers Malin Broman and Maria Angelika Carlsen!

Malin Broman is a violinist much in demand as a soloist, artistic director, chamber musician, teacher and orchestral leader. She studied with Lisbeth Vecchi and Milan Vitek before winning a scholarship to study with David Takeno at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Combining her unique talents as both a soloist and chamber musician, Malin was appointed leader of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2008. As guest leader, she has since been invited to perform with the London Symphony Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Committed to passing on her expertise to future generations, Malin has served as a member of the teaching staff at the Gothenburg Academy of Music and Drama, where she placed particular emphasis on the ergonomics of string playing.

Maria Angelika Carlsen was born in 1988. In August 2011 she became 2nd concertmaster in the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, and in August 2014 she joined Norwegian Radio Orchestra in the same position. In the 17/18 season she returned to the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra as concertmaster, and in August 2019 she became group leader for second violins in the Oslo Philharmonic. Maria has been concertmaster and Artistic Director of Ensemble Allegria since its inception in 2008. The ensemble has recorded several CDs with major works for chamber orchestra, including Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, with Maria Angelika and Marthe Husum as soloists.
