Meet the singers that we are supporting in collaboration with Folkoperan in our voice talent programme for 2024-2025!
Endre Aaberge Dahl
Endre is from Sogndal in Vestland county, and was educated at NTNU Institute of Music, the National Opera Academy in Oslo, and Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Florence. He is part of the Folkoperan praktikant programme where this season he sings Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, and also appears with Bergen National Opera and Arctic Opera Festival. Endre is the recipient of several prestigious scholarships from organisations including the Tom Wilhelmsen foundation, the Arts and Culture council in Norway, and in 2024 he received GC Rieber’s main scholarship, awarded by Bergen National Opera.
Frida Lund Larsen
Frida is a Norwegian contralto, and made her stage debut at The Royal Danish Opera as Siegrune in Die Walküre, conducted by Thomas Søndergård. As part of The Royal Theater’s Young Artist Program, she sang the role of Third Lady in Barrie Kosky’s production of Die Zauberflöte and Dryade in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos, and covered the roles of Auntie in Britten’s Peter Grimes and Olga in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. Educated at the Royal Danish Opera Academy, Hochschüle für Musik und Teater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig, and the Norwegian Academy of Music, she received 1st prize in the Nina Grieg International Solo Competition in 2018.
Íris Björk Gunnarsdóttir
Íris, an Icelandic lyric soprano, was a Young Artist at the Norwegian National Opera for the 23/24 season, performing in five productions and returns in 2025 to sing a new opera by Lisa Lie and Stian Westerhus. She holds a bachelors degree from Iceland University of the Arts and a masters degree Opera from the Oslo Academy of the Arts, and has sung works including La finta giardiniera (title role), Turn of the Screw (Governess), La Bohéme (Mimi), Falstaff (Alice), and the world premiere of John Speight’s Alice in Wonderland in which she sang the role of The Black Queen.
Kari Koskinen
Kari, a mezzo-soprano from Bjursås, Sweden, began singing opera at age 9. She trained at the Conservatory of Music in Falun, Vadstena Song and Piano Academy and the Department of Opera at Stockholm University of the Arts and is now praktikant at Folkoperan in Stockholm. She made her operatic debut in the summer of 2019 as the Third Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute at Opera på Skäret in Kopparberg and has since sang in operas by Bizet, Leoncavallo, Purcell, Massenet, and Engelbert Humperdinck. She hwas awarded the prestigious Joel Berglund scholarship, scholarships from the Royal Academy of Music, and in 2024 she was awarded the Swedish Royal Opera’s Hans Björklund scholarship.
Karin Mobacke
Karin, a soprano from Bollnäs, Sweden, made her operatic debut in 2022 as Eritrea in Il colore fa la regina by Carlo Francesco Pollarolo. She has performed the Royal Opera in Stockholm and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony and Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, among others. As a praktikant at Folkoperan, she sings in productions of Herr Arnes Penningar and Die Zauberflöte. She studied at the School of Music and Opera at Mälardalens University, Sweden.
Minna Tägil
Minna, a soprano, gave her operatic debut in 2023 as the lead role in Daniel Nelson’s Andefabriken, She has performed with orchestras including the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, and was a finalist in the Hjördis Schymberg Award earlier this year. In the autumn of 2023 she debuted at the Royal Opera in Janáček’s Jenůfa as Jano and She has received several scholarships from funds managed by, among others, the Royal Opera, the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, and the Jubilee Fund. Minna has studied at the School of Music and Opera, Mälardalen University.
