Meet the string quartets that we are supporting in collaboration with Danish String Quartet for our chamber talent programme for 2024-2025!
NOVO Quartet
The NOVO Quartet (Kaya Kato Møller, Nikolai Vasili Nedergaard, Daniel Śledziński and Signe Ebstrup Bitsch) was founded in Copenhagen in 2018 and now based in Vienna and Copenhagen. As an ensemble they have been recognized for their achievements in prestigious international competitions, including winning first prize at the Geneva International Music Competition 2023. They have been mentored by Tim Frederiksen and studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and École Normale de Musique de Paris. Their career as a quartet has taken them to the USA, Kenya, and China, and they host their own festival in Copenhagen, “Across Chamber Music Series.” Their debut album, “Frozen Moments,” showcases their heritage, presenting works by contemporary Danish composers. Known for their strong bond and creative approach, they have also explored collaborations with jazz, pop musicians, and fashion brands, highlighting their innovative spirit and deep emotional connection in their performances.
Saphir Quartet
The Saphir Quartet, consisting of Amanda Noor Vatn, Philippe Jayer, Torje Rabu, and Iris Kalliovirta—all born in 2006—formed in 2018 while studying at Barratt-Due Institute of Music in Oslo. Winners of the junior string division at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the Midgard Prize, they have performed at esteemed venues such as the Royal Palace of Norway, the National Theatre, Sentralen and Gamle Logen, and at the 17th May celebrations at the Norwegian Seaman’s Church in New York. In 2019, they gained international attention on Norway’s Got Talent, receiving the golden buzzer. Their repertoire spans composers from Grieg to Sulkhan Tsintsadze, guided by their teacher Kari Ravnan of the Oslo Philharmonic.
