BALTIC SEA FESTIVAL x CREATIVE DIALOGUE

Voksenåsen Music Academies continues our collaboration with Anssi Karttunen and the Baltic Sea Festival in 2025, bringing our Nordic composer talents and a select group of outstanding instrumentalists from Creative Dialogue in Helsinki to Stockholm, to give the world premiere of five brand new works.

Each composer will write a short piece for string quartet and clarinet, as a response to an aspect of the Baltic Sea, and will receive guidance during their creative process from renowned musicians Anssi Karttunen, Helena Tulve, and VMA Artistic Director, Peter Herresthal.

They will meet twice – once in Oslo in August, during our Summer Academy for an intensive week of workshops and development, and again in Stockholm in September for the world premiere performance at the Finnish Institute during the Baltic Sea Festival. The performers, who are laureates of Creative Dialogue with a strong commitment to contemporary music, will help to workshop and shape these new works in close collaboration with the composers.

More information on the composers can be found here.

More information on the instrumentalists can be found here.

Voksenåsen Music Academies is proud to produce this cross-border project and creation of these new works, with thanks to our sponsors, Talent Norge, Sparebankstiftelsen, Svensk-norska samarbetsfonden and Nordisk kulturfond.
