This year’s Winter Academy, held on January 18-19, marked a significant milestone as we celebrated our 10th annual event—a truly unforgettable weekend!
The Academy offered activities including open masterclasses, insightful lectures, and engaging seminars, as well as a Q&A from internationally renowned conductor, Julia Jones, fresh from conducting the premiere of Otello at Operaen. It was a fantastic opportunity for vocal pedagogues and singers to deepen their understanding of the voice, refine their teaching techniques, and contextualise their role within the development of young singers’ careers. A special thank you goes out to Randi Stene, our Artistic Director, and our dedicated teachers, the high school singers from Norway, and participants from our talent program in partnership with Folkoperan in Stockholm.
The Winter academy has been a wonderful meeting place for so many dedicated vocal teachers during these last 10 years. But I truly believe that we now will benefit from moving on to the Summer Academy where there will be many, even more possibilities to meet and to share the wonderful dedication for the art of singing, says Randi.
Thank you for ten wonderful years of the Winter Academy. We extend our gratitude to everyone who attended and contributed their valuable insights on singing and vocal pedagogy, both this year and over the last ten years. Moving forward, we are passing the torch onto Stemmepedagogisk Forum and the good work they do to gather and train voice pedagogy professionals.
However, this isn’t goodbye from us – while we develop exciting new concepts to support voice pedagogues, we will continue opening up for passive participation during the Summer Academy.
